Love Pop Choir Harrogate
Supporting Older People's Charity Gala
3rd July 2022

Ladies from Love Pop Choir Harrogate enjoyed an evening performance at the Supporting Older People’s Fabulous at 40 charity gala.

Choir director Lauren's partner, Jason, volunteers at the charity and he arranged for us to sing at the black tie event.

Held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Harrogate this was a celebration of the charity's 40 year anniversary. What amazing work they do, without the support and outreach that they provide, many older people would have no one else to turn to. The evening raised an amazing £7,313.60 for a brilliant cause.

After a welcome glass of fizz our lovely ladies took to the stage and sang for the guests as they arrived at the gala. Fortunately. an 80's setlist had been requested, this was perfect for us being our favourite music era (according to our recent Love Pop Choir survey). Such fun to sing our way through the 80's with hits such as A Little Respect by Erasure, Like A Prayer by Madonna, Take on Me by A-ha and many more, we loved our retro performance and so did our audience.

Love Pop Choir Cookridge
The Horsforth Walk of Art
4th July 2022

Love Pop Choir Cookridge gave a brilliant performance at the Horsforth Walk of Art, entertaining the crowds on the busy Hight Street.

A free, community led, inclusive, arts festival, it aims to showcase creativity by local artists and performers in everyday and unusual spaces. The hope is to inspire a community to make art, in all its forms, accessible and engaging.

Our ladies choir sang on the first day outside the local church. Such a beautiful sunny day, it was a pleasure to be out singing in the sunshine.  From This is Me through to our most appropriate song Thank You for the Music we kept our audience smiling and singing along.

Love Pop Choir Ilkley & Friends
The Ilkley Half Marathon
11th July 202
2

Love Pop Choir Ilkley were joined by some of our Harrogate and Cookridge ladies to sing at the Ilkley Half Marathon.

Another beautiful, sunny day (who knew we had so much sunshine in England). It was perfect weather for singing on the stage, but maybe a little hot for the competitors taking part in the half marathon.

Our set list was warm and sunny too including I'm still standing by Elton John, Blinding Lights by The Weekend and Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.  Our ladies gave a brilliant performance for the crowds watching in the spectator's area where there were food stalls, a kids zone with face painting and even a Spitfire flypast.

Love Pop Choir Ilkley
Ashland Primary School's Summer Fair
17th July 2022

Love Pop Choir Ilkley had a lovely afternoon, singing at Ashland Primary School's Summer fair.

Once again it was another beautiful sunny afternoon with brilliant blue skies. What a great day for our ladies to entertain the happy families having fun in the sun.

There were bouncy castles, food stalls, games, a barbeque and even a traditional coconut shy.  Assisted by choir director Kim's super cute daughter, Martha, our ladies began their set. All was going well until Martha accidentally unplugged the sound system whilst turning the pages for Kim - oops!

No harm done though as things were quickly rectified and everything went ahead beautifully as usual.

Love Pop Choir Roundhay
End of Term Concert
18th July 2022

Our fabulous Roundhay group had a real treat in store for family and friends at their end of term concert.

Despite being in the middle of a Heatwave, our ladies gave a brilliant performance, singing a great mix of fabulous summer hits, including Elton John's I'm still Standing, (which really fit the bill nicely).

Even though the temperature in the hall was so very very hot, the audience still had lots of energy to join in the performance, raising the roof with their clapping and cheering.

A really fun evening for everyone.

The British Transplant Games Gala
31st July 2022

What a spectacular way to finish off our first term at Love Pop Choir!

We performed as an 80 strong choir at the British Transplant Games Gala in Leeds. It was such a privilege and so humbling to be part of this fantastic event, filled with the most inspiring people.

The 2022 Games were held in Leeds this year, our Ilkley choir director, Kim is married to Matthew, a specialist nurse at the Leeds children's transplant team. He challenged us to raise funds for the charity by completing 100 hours of singing by the 31st July, the day of the gala. Not only did we complete the 100 hours of singing, we also smashed our initial fundraising target of £300 by raising a staggering £1200! Everyone at Love Pop Choir is so proud of our incredible ladies choir for donating so generously and giving up their time to support this amazing cause.

The British Transplant Games are held to demonstrate the benefits of transplantation, encouraging transplant patients to regain fitness, whilst increasing public awareness of the need for more people to join the NHS Organ Donation Register and discuss their wishes with their families. They also seek to thank and celebrate donor families and the gift of life.

What an inspiring event this was, first we sang our hearts out for the children, their families and their carers as they arrived at the Gala. Seeing the children who will benefit from our donation, knowing they were transplant patients and being able to watch them laugh, smile, wave at us and generally enjoy life was so special and heart warming.  It was truly an emotional yet fulfilling event and our ladies gave an outstanding performance. Later we sang for the adult's gala, once again it was magical to see people who had received transplants who were now out having a great time. living their best life. What an honour for us, to give yet another inspiring performance.

A very proud moment for Love Pop Choir, our ladies are fabulous!
