Love Pop Choirs Ilkley & Otley
Ilkley Food & Drink Festival
10th June 2023

Hot, Hot, Hot! Our brave ladies from our Ilkley and Otley groups battled scorching temperatures at the Ilkley Food & Drink Festival, thank goodness for our new Summer T Shirts.

Raising funds For Mental Health Charities, including local charity Bradford Mind, this was a 2 day fundraising feast of all things food & drink, great kids activities and of course brilliant performances from Love Pop Choir and many others. The total raised so far by the Festivals it a staggering £56,000, which means the world for better Mental support in our local communities.

Singing for a packed crowd, enjoying the gorgeous sunny weather whilst eating & drinking in their deckchairs, our fabulous ladies gave a wonderful performance despite the very hot conditions. Starting the set with one of our new favourites, Break My Heart by Dupa Lippa, the audience were then treated to a couple of 80's 'bangers' followed by Eurovision hit Spaceman by Sam Ryder before finishing with the wonderful 1970s' Fleetwood Mac Medley- a real trip through the decades.

What a fabulous summer event to be a part of, another great day for Love Pop Choir.

Music for Dementia Video - Thank You For Being A Friend
21st June 2023

Our tireless ladies were out and about again this week, singing in the beautiful surroundings of Ilkley Park.

Glorious sunshine made for a lovely evening of outdoor singing, this time not to entertain an audience, but to make a video in collaboration with the local Women's Institute, in support of the Music for Dementia - Thank You Day.

Sunday July 2nd is the UK’s third annual Thank You Day, which in the last two years has brought over 15 million people together to strengthen bonds and create kinder communities. This year, Music for Dementia is leading the music side of the Thank You Day celebrations, recognising and celebrating the hundreds of thousands of people in Britain who change their own lives to care for someone else, particularly those living with dementia.

Led by legendary pop star Tony Christie, friends, family and neighbours are asked to join in a national sing-a-long of Thank You For Being A Friend on BBC Radio 2 on the 2nd July at 12.55.

What superstars, we are so proud of you.

Horsforth Walk of Art

What a great evening for our ladies at the Walk of Art opening party at Horsforth Sports Club.

Performing one of our longer sets, our ladies gave a fabulous performance despite the tricky conditions. This was a busy, busy venue with lots going on, planes flying overhead, cool, windy weather (but no rain thankfully), kids running around and several cricket matches taking place. Despite this the harmonies sounded great and we had lots of volume, apparently we could be heard right across the cricket pitch!

The audience were treated to a fabulous mix of summer favourites ranging from Something Just Like This by Coldplay and Proud by Heather Small to old favourites such as River Deep Mountain High by Ike and Tina Turner and Together in Electric Dreams by Giorgio Moroder and Philip Oakey.

The set ended with I'm Still Standing, a tribute to the amazing Elton John, who ended his career on a high note at Glastonbury this week.

Three of our own festival superstars brought their Elton John glasses especially for the final number.

Rounding off the evening with drinks outside and food from the barbeque this was a fantastic start for the Walk of Art and such a fun evening for our wonderful choir.

My Leeds Summer 2023 Otley Workshop
6th July 2023

Love Pop Choir were thrilled to receive a grant from My Leeds Summer 2023 to hold a singing workshop and to perform at a community supper in Otley. Part of the Leeds Year of Culture 2023 celebrations. Otley hosted several different workshops that evening followed by a free supper at the Courthouse.

Our fabulous Otley and Ilkley groups, led by Choir Director Kim, held a very successful workshop, at the Woolpack Studios, for local ladies who were keen to try out singing in a choir, some for the first time. The participants were treated to a short performance from Love Pop Choir and were then taught two songs, A Little Respect by Erasure and We Found Love by Rihanna. What a great time everyone had and our new recruits did a brilliant job.

Then it was over to the Courthouse for a celebration supper and a mix of superb entertainment from some of the Workshop hosts, including Love Pop Choir. Giving a beautiful performance, outdoors in the Courtyard, the audience enjoyed favourites such Spaceman by Sam Ryder and our Fleetwood Mac Medley

Such a great evening enjoyed by everyone, especially the Workshop participants, some of whom enjoyed it so much they have now joined Love Pop Choir, welcome ladies.

Ashland's School Fayre
9th July 2023

Another scorching hot day for our ladies singing at Ashland's school fayre in Ilkley.

The busy annual event saw the crowds enjoying games, sports, drinks from the bar, a BBQ and of course brilliant entertainment from Love Pop Choir.

Despite getting a flat tyre on the way to the event, Choir Director Kim made it on time to lead our fabulous ladies through a great mix of Summer hits. The emotional Something Inside So Strong by Labi Siffre was a particular favourite and the set closed with the audience dancing to  the happy sounds of Together in Electric Dreams by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder.

Such a fun event on a beautiful Summer's day.

Love Pop Choir Saltaire
Saltaire Summer Gig
10th July 2023

Our fabulous Saltaire group gave a brilliant performance for friends, family and customers at The Groove Pad in Saltaire.

A packed pub with happy vibes enjoyed a varied mix of songs from 80s' banger Alone by Heart to oldies summertime hit Surfin. USA  through to Love Pop Choir's new favourite Wings by Birdy.  Choir Director Shane brought his own style to the event, directing the choir and playing keyboards to the beautiful Wings, such a lovely song.

A great event to celebrate the end of term in Saltaire.

Love Pop Choir Roundhay
End of Term Indoor Picnic
10th July 2023

Our wonderful English weather rained on Love Pop Choir Roundhay's parade!

Their planned picnic performance in Roundhay Park was rained off due to a torrential downpour. But never fear our fabulous Choir Director, Georgia, quickly re-arranged the event to an indoor picnic.

Family and friends joined our ladies for this end of term treat, enjoying a fabulous range of songs including Something Just Like This by Coldplay & The Chain Smokers.

A fun evening to end the Summer term.

Love Pop Choir Cookridge & Harrogate
Ralph Thoresby Summer Festival
15th July 2023

Despite the wonderful English Summer rainstorms, nothing was stopping this event. The bad weather action plan swung into effect and everything was moved inside, which worked beautifully as there was so much space in this lovely building.

Love Pop Choirs Cookridge & Harrogate were joined by a few of our Roundhay ladies on the Theatre Stage, what a great venue. A lovely performance area and theatre style seating for our large audience who were brilliant at joining in the 'HEYS' hands up sections during Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves.

Choir Director, Lauren led the choir, and the audience, through a summery selection of hits with River Deep Mountain High by Ike and Tina Turner getting an especially big cheer. Seated on the front row were The Hummingbirds who had performed outside earlier, braving the weather. We also had our favourite photographer, Craig, there taking lots of photos.

This was a big, packed event with lots going on to enjoy before and after our performance. Some of our more hardy ladies even went outside at the end to watch one of the bands in torrential rain, hiding under gazebos weighted down with water, so funny.

Another great event for our fabulous choir.
